Dr. Deb Casey is a transformative leader in higher education, driving systemic change through student-focused strategies, technology integration, and workforce innovation. As President of Wor-Wic Community College, Dr. Casey champions initiatives that align academic programs with regional workforce needs while modernizing operations.
A hallmark of Dr. Casey’s leadership is her ability to assess workforce needs within rural communities and to develop academic programs that directly address those needs. She has built strong relationships with local employers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure that Wor-Wic’s programs are responsive to the evolving demands of the region’s workforce.
Dr. Casey’s global perspective is evident in the India-US Workforce Partnership, connecting learners to emerging opportunities in FinTech. She is advancing future-ready skills through the India-US Workforce Partnership webinar series presented by Wor-Wic and Symbiosis University faculty, an initiative designed to empower students with expertise in digital finance, blockchain, and emerging technologies.
Her lived experience as a first-generation, Pell-recipient student informs her empathetic leadership and her dedication to eliminating systemic barriers for students and the broader community. She has also advanced STEM education through partnerships with NASA-Wallops and the Maryland Space Grant Consortium, while securing $5.7 million for a Disability Innovation project that expands access for Wor-Wic students with disabilities.
Dr. Casey believes transformation requires coordinated momentum, cross-sector teams leveraging technology, policy, and philanthropy to scale student success. Her vision combines data-driven strategies, operational excellence, and instructional innovation to create pathways that help all learners graduate on time and thrive in high-demand fields.
