CEO Mastermind: Community Colleges as Transfer Destinations

Within the AFIT community, we’re seeing signals of a new model beginning to emerge: community colleges partnering with one another not simply to facilitate transfer, but to create mutual strategic value.

Both Moraine Park Technical College (WI) and Central Community College (NE) have established transfer agreements with Yavapai College (AZ) tied to its new optimized 92-credit bachelor’s degrees. The partnerships create new pathways for students, give partner colleges access to a baccalaureate option they do not have to build themselves, and help Yavapai extend its reach and grow enrollment beyond its traditional market.

Using these partnerships as a springboard, the panel will explore a bigger question: Could a more networked community college model become a new growth strategy for the sector—building on student success, increasing access to credentials of value, and enabling institutions to respond more nimbly to community workforce needs?

This strategic, CEO-level conversation will move beyond the mechanics of transfer to explore the broader implications for institutional growth, reach, partnership, and the future of a more interconnected community college system.
