Robert J. Clougherty, Jr., PhD is a nationally recognized higher-education technology leader and AI strategist who helps institutions move from experimentation to enterprise-level impact. A former CIO, provost, and founder, he brings deep experience designing AI-first roadmaps, governance frameworks, and data strategies that align technology with mission, culture, and student success. Bob has led large, complex organizations through digital transformation, launched AI-enabled services and learning platforms, and secured millions in grant funding to scale innovation responsibly. At AFIT, he serves as AI Strategy & Innovation Lead, leading the AI Community of Practice and equipping presidents and senior leaders to move AI from concept to ethical, high-impact institutional practice.
