Augmented Intelligence & Your Campus

Thursday, January 15, 2026
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (EST)

Event Details

We’re excited to launch the 2026 AFIT AI Community of Practice with a refreshed format and new leadership. AI expert Dr. Robert Clougherty will serve as moderator, guiding our shared exploration of how institutions can move from AI curiosity to coordinated, responsible action.

In this opening session, you’ll meet Bob and preview the year of learning ahead. We’ll ground our conversation in AI as augmented intelligence—focusing on how AI can strengthen people, processes, and decision-making rather than replace them. Bob will introduce a simple, practical framework for thinking about enterprise AI in higher education: a triangle of technology, governance, and culture.

Just as important, we’ll hear from you—where your campus is today, what questions you’re wrestling with, and what you hope to explore this year.

How the AI Community of Practice Works

Each 2026 session will follow a consistent, practical structure designed for busy leaders:

  • In the News
A brief look at recent AI headlines—and what they may (or may not) mean for higher education.

  • Topic Spotlight
A concise, campus-facing framing of the month’s theme. No deep technical dives required.

  • Question of the Month
Guided discussion where participants share what’s happening—or not yet happening—on their campuses.

  • Latest from AFIT
Updates, resources, and opportunities from across the AFIT community.

This Month’s Focus

The AI CoP in 2026: Augmented Intelligence & Our Triangle

Together, we’ll explore:

  • What it means to approach AI as a tool that augments human work and institutional capacity

  • Why technology, governance, and culture must evolve together for AI efforts to succeed

  • Where AFIT member campuses are today—early experiments, concerns, and aspirations for the year ahead

We’ll pose questions such as:

  • What do you want your campus to become in an AI-enabled world?

  • Where are you most curious—and where do you feel most stuck—when it comes to AI?

Whether your institution is just beginning to experiment or already piloting AI initiatives, this session is designed to meet you where you are and help shape the Community of Practice around the real challenges you’re facing.

We hope you’ll join us and help set the tone for a thoughtful, grounded year of learning together.
