Welcome Dr. James Limbaugh, president of West Los Angeles College

AFIT is pleased to announce that Dr. James “Jim” Limbaugh has joined our Alliance. Jim is the ninth president of West Los Angeles College and one of the inaugural cohort of presidents selected for the 2023-24 Aspen Presidents Fellowship. He has deep experience in higher ed leadership at both 2-year and 4-year institutions.  

Under his guidance, West pioneered the first U.S. community college degree in climate change studies and a thriving dental hygiene baccalaureate program. Jim champions community engagement and partnerships with schools and organizations to enhance student success; his innovative initiatives like the West Food Pantry and West Wardrobe demonstrate his commitment to addressing external barriers to academic achievement.  

Jim holds a Ph. D. in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Maryland, a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from Texas A & M University, two undergrad degrees in English and Business from Texas A&M and a history degree from Frostburg State University.
